1.      What is an icon?
Icons are tiny pictures representing file, folder or applications etc.

2.      What is the use of Trash?
If you need the deleted file back, it can be restored from the recycle bin to its original location.

3.      How to change the desktop appearance?
To access Appearance Settings in Ubuntu, click on User menu at the top right corner, on the top Menu bar and select System Settings.

4.      What is the purpose of Screen Saver?
It is used to prevent damage to the screen through continuous display of the same image.

5.      What is a web browser give example?
A web browser, or simply “browser”, is an application used to access and view websites.
Common web browsers in Ubuntu are chromium and firefox.

6.      What is the difference between copy and Move options?
Copy
Move
Select the file/folder which is to be copied

It is the important and frequently used option. It shows disk drives, files and folders in our computer.

2.      What are Files and Folders in Ubuntu?

File
A file is an item that contains information. For example, text or images or music
In our computer, files are represented with icons.

Folder
ë  A Folder is a container of your files.
ë  Every file is stored in a folder or a subfolder (a folder within a folder)

3.      Define Desktop.
The first screen that appears when the operating system has been initialized is called the desktop. The Ubuntu desktop contains three parts.
1.      Main Desktop :
The main part of your screen with your wallpaper and the icons you want such as app shortcuts, folders and random files.
2.      Unity launcher :
The toolbar on the left –similar to the Task Bar in Windows—which contains icons for your favourite apps, alongside those of the apps that are currently running. It also contains a button at the top where you can search for files and launch apps, like the Windows Start Menu.
3.      Top menu bar:
The top bar where you’ll find the network connection info, time and more on the top right.

4.      How to create a new folder? How to open the folder?
ë  Right click in the empty area of the desktop/in drive folder.
ë  From the popup menu so displayed, select “New folder”, A new folder dialog box appears.
ë  Type a new name for the folder and press “enter” to save the name.

ë  To open a folder double click the folder.
