Reducing Pollution
Answer the
following
1. What is air pollution? What are the
major causes of air pollution? What can we do to control them?
ë
The mixing of harmful gases and
particles in the air is called air pollution

It is caused by air pollutants like carbon
dioxide. Carbon monoxide released by burning fossils fuels and automobile
exhausts
We can control them by

Planting more trees
2)
Using public transport
3)
Avoid crackers.
4)
Not burning garbage.
2. Explain the term “Green House Effect”
and “Global Warming”?
ë
Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
traps the heat released from the earth’s surface. This causes green house
effect.
ë
Excess carbon dioxide increases the
earth’s temperature leading to global warming.
3. How is water polluted? What
corrective measure can we take to control water pollution?
Water is polluted by littering
industrial waste, sewage treatment plant and house hold activities.
